Samantha Mroz [pronounced “muh-rose”] is a composer and programmer based in Charlotte, North Carolina. Samantha has a particular love for long-form musical storytelling that has drawn her to the video games industry, using her classical training to bring a unique, gentle voice to her soundtracks. She studied music composition with Dr. Lisa Coons and Dr. Christopher Biggs at Western Michigan University from 2021 to 2023 and also studied privately with indie game composer Samantha Vandersluis. She has composed soundtracks for multiple game jam submissions on various teams and enjoys experimenting with audio programming and soundtrack implementation to truly bring a game to life.

 

Additionally, Samantha maintains a unique online prescence, best known for her music-focused channel sicrowave on Twitch. On Twitch, she often focuses on showcasing her composing process, discussing different aspects of composing and freelancing, or talking with other composers from diverse backgrounds. She enjoys building a sense of community through a healthy combination of entertainment and music education.

 

Samantha is currently working toward a B.S. in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence, Robotics, and Gaming at the University of the North Carolina at Charlotte. After finishing her studies, Samantha hopes to continue working in the indie video game industry and teach others about the benefits of programming as a creative outlet.
